Holding On

This series is about what is a souvenir and why do some of us buy them? Their mysterious back story is a memory known only to the buyer. Travel souvenirs enable us to hold on to memories of place and culture. Treasured souvenirs in this series are paired with strange inanimate objects. New relationships are formed with meanings open to the viewer's gaze.

I am a tragic souvenir collector and while house sitting for a friend I decided to place one of my recently purchased souvenirs with an object from her home. The results were a strange mix of objects with new realtionships open to interpretation by the viewer.
